Clongorey Community Association

Introduction

Clongorey is situated about 3 Kilometers North of Newbridge, in County Kildare, Ireland. It is a community comprising some 1400 people with just over 300 homesteads. The Clongorey Community Association was founded in 2002 in response to the need to regenerate the local community hall after many years of negelct and dereliction. This project was completed within the year and since then the association has continued to thrive.

Our most recent project as a community was the restoration of St Patrick's Shrine and well at Barrettstown cemetery. There are more details about this project in the St Patricks Well section of the website.

The overall objective of the Association is to provide the means by which the people of the area can make life more secure, rewarding, and enriching by engaging in activities that promote the common good in the area. We hope to achieve this by:

  • Promoting cultural activities.

  • Promoting the use of the hall to make it self financing.

  • Organising annual events for the community

  • Promoting sporting activities within the community.

  • Producing a monthly newsletter.
